POSITION DESCRIPTIONProvides accounting and administrative support to the Finance Department according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner. Diversified duties include the recording of journal entries, preparation of department budget reports, account reconciliation, depositing of cash and checks, and general administrative support for the department.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares journal entries recording revenue from various departments, including contribution revenue, admission revenue, art collection loan fees, and rental income.Prepares journal entries recording cost of goods sold from gift shop sales, the release of prepaid assets, the funding of exhibitions and other museum projects, and payment of state sales tax.Prepares and distributes departmental budget reports monthly.Tracks exhibition funding and spending, art purchases, and capital expenditures.Reconciliation of various accounts including major gift and grant revenue, prepaid postage expense, and petty cashMaintains General Ledger project code list.Deposits checks and cash in bank.Weekly reconciliation of Visitors Services cash drawersAuxiliary Group liaisonCredit Card program administrationAssist in the annual audit.Initiates wire paymentsAd hoc projects and analysis as neededMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation and ExperienceMinimum of 1-3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experienceMinimum of Associate Degree in Accounting required or equivalent work experience, Bachelors? Degree preferredSkills and AbilitiesStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to respond quickly to unexpected challenges and shifting prioritiesAbility to work well both independently and collaborativelySolid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and concepts.Ability to enter data into various forms and systems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with necessary discretion.Demonstrates a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.Proficient in Microsoft Office productsFinancial Edge General Ledger system preferredNon-profit experience desired
