Job Title:After

Literacy Lead – Elementary School

Pay:

$28.00 – $30.00/hour depending on experience

Hours:

Contract runs through the school year (6/2/23), with the opportunity to extend into the summer and next school year. 40 hours ranging from 8:00am-6:00pm, with health and retirement benefits, paid holidays, and continued work hours during school breaks (e.g. spring break).

Site:

El Dorado Elementary School (K-5 grade) – 70 Delta St, San Francisco

The Literacy Lead will work primarily with students and staff at El Dorado Elementary School. However, there is also a team of R.O.C.K. literacy staff at another partner school who would be folded into any training or professional development done by the Literacy Lead.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design and facilitate literacy training models for R.O.C.K. literacy staff (team of 4)

Provide high quality professional development around effective literacy practices and foundations of reading for R.O.C.K. literacy staff

Model and teach new quality literacy intervention activities

Coach literacy staff on using high-quality evidence-based assessments to determine the effective interventions required for students

Analyze data, identify trends and support teachers to adjust instruction based on data

Communicate with R.O.C.K. and school leadership team on school wide literacy progress

Manage all literacy related partnerships through the organizing of reading level groups, scheduling of students, monitoring student progress, etc.

Attend all literacy meetings and professional developments

Develop positive relationships with staff, students, teachers, and parents

Be a leader and role model to children and staff

Assist in planning of school wide literacy related events and workshops

Actively participate in student performance data analysis and academic progress tracking

Practice positive discipline philosophy and restorative practices when working with students

Create and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment

Attend monthly staff meetings

Attend scheduled all program events

Requirements:

3+ years of experience in specialized literacy curriculum such as F&P, RI, LLI, ELA, etc.

Knowledge of how children learn to read

Proven results when working with struggling readers

Desire to work with underserved children

Reliable means of transportation to and from program

Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese and/or Samoan is a plus

48 college credits from an accredited college or university or successful completion of the Instructional Aide Exam (administered after hire)

Provide proof of a negative TB screen within the past four years

Must have proof of COVID Vaccinations + Booster
