who can develop Mathematical Models of infectious disease transmission. This project is focused on the role of human mobility on directly transmitted (HIV, HCV, SARS-CoV-2, measles, rubella), vector-borne diseases (malaria, dengue). Particular projects include modeling the role of travel on the spread of malaria in Sub-Saharan Africa, travel and injecting behaviors of people who inject drugs, and developing models able to determine the optimal allocation of vaccines. The position will require the development, evaluation, and investigation of spatial infectious disease transmission models. This position will also involve integrating various data sets (human travel, genomic information, serological status, and case data) to understand effective control policies.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe specific duties will require developing infectious disease transmission models in R, big data management, and model fitting. The position will require writing scientific manuscripts, public health reports, and scientific presentations.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in related discipline.Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsMasters Degree.Experience developing and using infectious disease transmission models particularly those related to vaccine-preventable and vector-borne diseases.Experience in advanced biostatistical and mathematical methods.Knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology.Classified Title: Research AssistantJob Posting Title (Working Title):Research Assistant in Mathematical ModelingRole/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CDStarting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)Employee group: Full TimeSchedule: Monday to Friday: 8:30 am - 5 pmExempt Status:Non-ExemptLocation:School of Public HealthDepartment name: EpidemiologyPersonnel area: School of Public Health
