The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling and servicing events. Primary sales efforts include menu planning, agenda setting & hotel meeting services. The Catering Sales Manager will work in conjunction with the Director of Sales & Director of Catering to achieve the hotel’s revenue and market share goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue. The individual will serve as the main point of contact between the client and the hotel throughout the preplanning, execution, and post-departure phases by collaborating effectively and in a timely manner with the operational teams to ensure a high level of service. Duties also include host hotel tours, contract review, maintain strong customer relationships, participate and may lead event meetings and other staff meetings, and work as a team member with the sales and events staff. The manager also works closely with an assigned Administrative Assistant and other support staff.Thompson team members work in an environment that demands exceptional performance yet reaps great rewards. Whether it's career opportunities, job enrichment or a supportive work environment, if you are ready for this challenge, then we are ready for you.This position’s anticipated start date is August/September 2023.Responsibilities & Duties include:Identify, solicit, qualify, and book new and repeat business through various sales efforts while maximizing event space to meet/exceed personal and team revenue goals.Plan, upsell, and detail the meeting/function with the client including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, decor, etc.Monitor and handle inquiry calls and provide client proposals in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.Establish a strong Social and Corporate client base.Negotiate meeting room rental, function space, and/or hotel services within approved booking guidelines.Accurately produce and/or review all sales contracts, rate agreements, and/or banquet/catering event orders.Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients. Entertain clients in accordance with established company and hotel policies and guidelines.Maintain client files and update information daily in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.Monitor and evaluate trends within your market segment and hotel procedures, products and competition, including their strengths and weaknesses, to continually improve sales strategies and achieve goals.Attend daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required.Maximize food, beverage and auxiliary revenues by selling menus, themes and experiences/activities.Identify and sell opportunities to maximize sales above contracted minimum spend.Conduct pre-planning site meetings and assist in the sales process where required.Communicate all details of assigned groups & conventions to all departments in a professional, thorough and timely manner by using Resumes, Event Orders and internal correspondence effectively.Maintain a high level of service by continually providing accurate and timely information and feedback to all supporting departments.Establish and maintain professional and positive communications and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel.Ensure that function set up meets or exceeds customer expectations by working closely with each group's point of contact to determine their needs.Ensure proper communication and coordination to satisfy customer's requests.Assist customers in finalizing function details and suggest alternatives as appropriate.Inspect function rooms, greet customers, and continuously follow up with clients to make sure their needs are met.Coordinate outside vendor activity as necessary.Conduct post-function reviews with customers and actively solicits re-bookings prior to client’s departure.Develop a full working knowledge of operations and hotel policies.Perform any other duties as requested by the Director of Sales or Director of Catering.QualificationsA true desire and passion to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environmentRefined verbal and written communication skillsMust be proficient in general computer knowledgeEnvision Sales and Social Tables knowledge is preferredCandidates should be extremely detail-oriented and organizedProblem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used oftenRequires full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends, nights, and/or holidaysAt least two years hotel experience in sales and marketing or related professional areaBachelor’s degree preferredThorough knowledge of the practices and procedures of the catering, food and beverage, menu development and pricingRequires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendationsMust possess communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, sell and influence professionals and/or hotel guestsOur Values: Empathy | Integrity | Respect | Inclusion | Experimentation | WellbeingAt Hyatt, we believe in the power of belonging- of making people feel at home no matter where they are in the world.
