Drab to Fab is a modern, eco-friendly landscape design & construction contractor serving San Diego County. We have completed over 200 projects since our founding in July 2020. We are looking to continue our rapid growth with key hires that can grow alongside the company. The Landscape Irrigation Technician will be an integral component of our growth plan for 2023.

We are located in North Park – San Diego, CA. Candidates will be provided a company vehicle to work within a 25+/- mile radius.

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for completion of irrigation work orders in an efficient manner, troubleshooting and problem solving of irrigation systems, promote worksite safety, providing excellent customer service, and exhibit pride and quality workmanship.

Qualified candidates for this position will maintain a well groomed, and professional appearance. Good communication skills are a must - you will be meeting with clients in the field. Previous experience is necessary for this full time position.

Qualified candidates for this position will be organized and efficient - you will be working with a stocked truck, on your own, or with labor as needed.

REQUIRMENTS:

The ideal candidate has 3+ years as an irrigation technician or similar role

Social security number

Driver's license with clean DMV record

Must be able to communicate in English

Ability to adhere to Company policies and procedures, codes and standards of conduct, ethics, attendance, and professional appearance

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Always represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism.

Identify, correct or report work hazards on job sites.

Properly excavate, back fill and compact trenches.

Cut and glue PVC pipe and fittings.

Run and connect irrigation wire.

Safely load and secure pipe and irrigation parts for transport in work vehicle.

Program, trouble shoot, repair, trace wires, on existing and new irrigation controllers and systems for commercial and residential accounts.

Repair drip hose and fittings, adjust nozzles and spray patterns on different types of sprinkler heads.

Maintain detailed records of irrigation maintenance activities, completed work orders, inventory and time sheets.

Evaluate in-ground irrigation systems, irrigation controllers; recommend irrigation design changes to improve irrigation system efficiency and reduce water-waste; assist in walk-through inspections of old and new irrigation systems; review water usage records to evaluate water use and determine conservation procedures; advise customers with irrigation system repair and maintenance including written estimates of repairs; and perform other duties as assigned.

Perform system checks, repair, maintenance of irrigation, landscape drainage, low voltage lighting to properties from small yards to multi-acre residential. Ability to prepare estimates and recommendations using various computer applications.

Applicant must be able to work outdoors, in all weather conditions

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work to be performed mostly outdoors on various sites throughout San Diego County. Environment can be hot. Applicants must be in good physical condition and able to perform physical operations requiring but not limited to sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and carrying of tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Workplace is non-smoking and drug-free.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING

After phone screening and in-person interview(s), successful candidates will be invited to participate in a mandatory, paid working interview. Candidate must be able to pass pre-employment testing, criminal and civil background investigations, employment verifications and physical/drug screens. We do not screen for cannabis/marijuana.

BENEFITS (ELIGIBILITY BEGINS AT 60 DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT):

After 60-days probationary employment period, you will be eligible to join our team as a full-time employee (minimum 32 hours/week) with benefits that include:
