Our faculty are expected to teach in the general education program and to be flexible in terms of meeting the needs of the department. Lecturers who teach in our program teach primarily composition, although there are occasionally openings in literature, English Education and creative writing courses.Prospective applicants are encouraged to see the department's web page at:https://english.sonoma.edu/Duties of the Position -- Teach three- or four-unit courses as assigned by the Department.- Follow university Syllabus polices- Hold office hours (typically 1 hour per 3-unit course)Typical courses assigned are English 101, Expository Writing and Analytical Reading, and ENGLISH 100A/100B, First-Year Composition, which students take as a two-semester course.Additional courses in our program may become available, so please describe your relevant experience in your vita and job letter.Professional QualificationsTo be recommended for appointment, the candidate must have :Masters or MFA in English, MFA or PhD in English or related fields2 years teaching experience demonstrating professional commitment to students.For creative writing classes, excellent publication record (preferably two volumes published with reputable presses).Rank and SalaryFull-time is a 15-unit workload per semester. Actual salary is dependent upon the number of units assigned, educational preparation, and availability of funds subject to any CSU system faculty contract salary increases.Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month.The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salary range indicated above is prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester.Selection as a candidate in the applicant pool, does not guarantee employment.
