Facilitates a safe and therapeutic residential environment for youth in crisis, overseeing weekend shelter operations and direct care services.Specific position duties and responsibilities:Provides direct care and case management as outlined in program policies and procedures, including but not limited to, responding to crisis calls, conducting initial screenings and facilitating admissions and dischargesCoordinates and facilitates weekend skill-building and recreational program activitiesProvides supervision of youth according to program guidelines and policies, maintaining an environment that promotes the safety and wellbeing of youth in careModels care and respect to youth in care and their families, through interactions that are consistently strengths-based, developmentally appropriate, and reflect the implementation of best practice guidelines identified in the program’s policies and proceduresLeads program’s weekend meal preparation activities ensuring that prepared meals/snacks are balanced and youth are engaged in planning/preparationCollaborates with shelter staff in a seamless delivery of services that align with the shelter’s guidelines and policiesDevelops and maintains effective working relationships with stakeholders from systems that impact program youthComplies with all record management requirementsCompletes daily facility maintenance and cleaning activities, ensuring the facility is orderly, clean, and in a good state of repair at all timesExpends agency funds as directed and maintains all required documentationProvides shift change transition communicationGeneral agency duties and responsibilities:Completes all required trainingsParticipates in agency outreach and fundraising eventsDemonstrates a willingness to assist in other agency programs as neededActs as a custodian and demonstrates responsible and ethical use of agency property and facilitiesDisplays sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristicsStrives to embody the agency’s Code of Ethics while working towards the agency’s MissionLearns and demonstrates Agency-wide Competencies including the areas of consumer and community relationships, continuous individual and agency-wide improvement, vision and purpose, respect and teamwork, and positive leadershipLearns, develops, and models Positive Youth Development core competencies resulting in capacity to contribute to the mission of Haven House Services and be a resource to our youth and families, other partner organizations, and our communityOther duties as assignedMinimum qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a human service field from an accredited institutionTwo years of related experience working with the target population or Combination of education and experience that meets position requirements will be consideredKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Knowledge of the NC Juvenile Court System, local community resources, and experience with client documentation and file managementStrong written and verbal communication skillsOther requirements:Valid North Carolina Driver’s License and satisfactory driving recordPersonal vehicle for use in conducting home visits and/or transporting clients in the event agency vehicles aren’t availableProof of current/valid car insuranceAcceptable background reportNegative drug screen resultsPost-offer employment physical and TB per licensing standardsPost-offer employment federal and state fingerprint checksWork environment:Weekend and evening hours requiredWillingness to work holidays and during inclement weatherCulture of care and wellness in the officePotential exposure to bloodborne and/or airborne pathogens
