We are interested in the structural and functional diversity of misfolded proteins, and we want to understand how the properties of both proteins and their cellular environments govern that diversity. To answer these questions, we use approaches from organic, analytical, biological, and computational chemistry, as well as molecular, cellular, structural, and computational biology to probe the structure and activity of peptides and proteins, both in vitro and in living cells. Current projects range from fundamental to applied and include both hypothesis-driven and discovery-driven research, as well as development of new technologies. Ultimately, we aim to provide insights vital to intervening in diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
