This position reports directly to the Head Softball Coach and also be under the direction of the Director of Athletics. Athletics plays an important role in the life of the campus, including but not limited to the following: enhancing the learning experience for student-athletes, creating opportunities for uniting the campus community, publicly demonstrating the College’s values and mission, and contributing to the achievement of the College’s enrollment goals. This position will be active in supporting the College’s Mission and Vision, and will strictly adhere to NCAA, CCIW, and Institutional rules.Essential Functions:Identify outstanding student-athlete candidates for North Central CollegeDevelop relationships with recruited student-athletes and parents/guardians.Develop relationships with high school/club coaches, teachers, alumni, and others that can aid in the recruitment of student-athletes.Organize, coordinate, and delegate recruiting tasks including recruiting correspondence via mail, email, telephone, social media and others forms as needed to coaching staffMaintain the recruiting database and research data needed for scouting reports and recruiting.Work closely with the Admissions Office on all recruiting activities.Compliance Oversight:

Maintain a current working knowledge of NCAA and conference regulations, and assist in the adherence to them.

Sport Teaching:

Support the Head Coach in developing a strong sense of team within the Softball program, the Athletics department and the College.Assist in organized practice sessionsModel and foster appropriate sportsmanship, competitiveness, and humility.

A student in the Sports Leadership Program will create solutions, discover new leadership ideas and skills, and develop the ability to engage and motivate others. The GA will gain experience in relationship development within different populations including but not limited to recruits, current student-athletes, alumni, coaches and other professionals in various departments across campus.The MBA student will experience budget projections, operations, and supervision and leadership of student employees. The GA will gain experience in relationship development within different populations including but not limited to recruits, current student-athletes, alumni, coaches and other professionals in various departments across campus.Overall, the graduate assistant position will further develop skills in event management for competitions, marketing and promotions, leadership, communication and decision-making experiences. Accepted into a graduate program at North Central College.Experience playing or coaching softball, or athletic administrative experience.Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or eligibility to become current.Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.Experience in college athletics strongly preferred.Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record strongly preferred.The programs that best complement this position are:
