Location: Chicago, ILJob Type: Full-timeDescription:Lactalis USA is seeking a talented individual to join our US Legal team. This role can be based in Buffalo, NY or Chicago, IL.The Senior Counsel, Cheese Divisions assists the Associate General Counsels (AGC) to support Lactalis American Group, Inc., Lactalis Heritage Dairy, Inc., Karoun Dairies, LLC, and Central Valley Cheese, Inc. The position involves advising internal stakeholders, collaborating with legal department attorneys and paralegals, and working with outside counsel, reporting to the General Counsel, Cheese Divisions.Key responsibilities include:Commercial Contract Drafting and Negotiation for Cheese DivisionsReview, draft, and negotiate Cheese Divisions contracts.Lead legal training sessions for business teams.Develop and maintain contract templates.Food Law and Advertising Law for Cheese DivisionsReview advertising/marketing/packaging copy.Advise on promotions and attend brand strategy meetings.Litigation Strategy and Management for Cheese DivisionsSupport litigation matters.Negotiate resolutions of disputes and advise on legal risks.Intellectual Property Matters for Cheese DivisionsAdvise on trademark and patent protection strategy.Train R&D and Marketing departments on trademark and patent laws.Requirements:Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with at least one bar admission.5 to 8 years’ experience with a national law firm and/or in-house legal department.Skills/Abilities:Shows initiative and ability to work independently.Demonstrates strategic ability and high ethics.Possesses excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Acute attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.Demonstrates excellent negotiation skills and operates well in multi-functional teams.Committed to continuous improvement and company values.
