A large heavy civil general contractor is looking for two Senior Project Managers to join their team in the Southern Texas region located in Mission, TX. These Senior PM’s will be responsible for the timely execution and administration of assigned projects in a safe and profitable manner consistent with the standards of quality and integrity. The primary responsibility is to manage a project by leading the planning and the development of all project deliverables. The Senior Project Manager is fully responsible for managing the budget and work plan and all Project Management Procedures.
One Senior Project Manager will be managing a portion of the border wall project in the Rio Grande City location, and the other Senior Project Manager will be managing a highway project in Kennedy County. The Texas division of this company is growing rapidly and we’re adding full-time employees to manage the project backlog, and the new projects as they continue to win them. There is no shortage of work and the team will continue to grow. The Texas division spans across Austin, San Antonio, Houston and the Valley.
PROJECT DETAILS:
Border Wall Project:
Star County – State of TX project – the project will include the construction of roads and walls by following federal specs. We're looking for a Senior PM who can take the ball and run with it. This person needs to be more than just a moderator. They need to be a Subject Matter Expert in Heavy Civil, concrete, steel and roadwork. The candidate should be open to travel. They're on a MAHTOC which starts in Brownsville and goes up through El Paso / or at least up to Del Rio (the whole South East border stretch of Texas). The project is slated to be at least 3 years. It's a $500M which they are already contracted for $250M currently. They are halfway through it that work, and bidding for more. They are shortlisted out of 4 contractors, so it's pretty much guaranteed for another 3 yrs. Project team will include – working with USACE, a QCM, Safety Manager, Superintendent and 1 or more Project Engineers. This role will sit at the project site. If the person is senior enough, he/she may be traveling between multiple jobs.
Highway Project:
Kennedy county – TXDOT project – the project entails paving a 13-mile road on both sides, 4 lanes/52 miles total. The road will include building bridges, storm utilities, hot mix and dirt work. The budget is $200M, for 4 years. They're short on staff and need TXDOT experience. After adding a Sr. PM, they'll be seeking Sr. Project Engineers too. The Sr. PM must be able to speak to the TXDOT process, paper trail, sequence of things so they don’t have to teach. This is an on-site position and they'll be in charge of the project fully - delivery, scheduling, cost control, quality, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety:
Responsible for overall job safety as per the safety manual for the particular job.
Ensure that test holes are dug where required.
Report any damage to utility lines to Vice President of Field Operations.
Ensure that jobsite meets all OSHA standards including cleanliness.
Ensure that everyone on the site is following all safety protocols including AHAs and daily Tool Box Talks.
OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certs are required.
Payments/Financial:
Perform daily quantity review.
Actively participate in monthly review of estimates and pending submissions for payment.
Report all extra work or non-contract work to your Division Manager.
Process all estimates on a timely basis.
Prepare and submit change orders to the Owner.
Review/approve subcontractor invoices.
Perform accurate Project financial forecasting as related to revenue, costs, and profitability.
Payroll and Equipment Reports:
Ensure the accuracy of payroll and equipment information.
Responsible for maintaining petty cash.
Responsible for obtaining and preparing Monthly Cost Estimate/Forecast.
Scheduling:
Control all material deliveries, production schedule, and long lead-time items.
Coordinate all work with subcontractors.
Coordinate all utility requirements with providers.
Coordinate schedule activities with site superintendent.
Notify Owner of any and all schedule impacts in accordance with Contract Documents.
Planning:
Efficiently maintain all records and files in field office.
Develop and implement a project schedule that meets the goals of the owner.
Ensure project activities are thoroughly and properly planned.
Supervision:
Supervise and ensure that all tasks are carried out by the Project Team.
MUST HAVE:
10+ years of experience as a Heavy Civil Project Manager
2+ years of experience in a Project Manager role with a contract value of $10M+
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or similar field)
Experience in Heavy Civil Construction (highways, site-work, roads, bridges, environmental, support of excavation, foundations, piles, sanitary sewers or sewer wastewater treatment plants, etc.).
Proven track record of meeting deadlines. Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Up-to-date OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications
