Job Summary:

Due to growth, HonorBridge is recruiting for a Recovery Surgeon. This position is a licensed physician with experience in organ donation, surgical abdominal organ recovery, and organ transplantation. The Recovery Surgeon has the primary responsibility of surgical dissection, removal, and preparation of donor organs for transplantation and research. This role requires excellent surgical skills, leadership, and collaboration with medical professionals to increase the availability of organs suitable for transplantation. This position will be instrumental in assisting in operational efficiencies in the operative environment.What you will be doing:

Performs the surgical recovery of donor organs, ensuring the highest standards in organ recovery and research.Full-time schedule requires a minimum of 20 on-call days each month, including some weekends. An on-call day is defined as a 24-hour period.Participates in the training of Organ Recovery Coordinators, Surgical Recovery Coordinators, and Surgical First Assists.Responsible for organ recovery procedures, both donation after Brain Death (DBD) donors and Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) donors, ensuring they meet national standards and procedures for organ recovery and transplantation.Participates in chart reviews of donors and is a member of the Research Committee.Fosters relationships with transplant center surgeons, administrators, and medical professionals to enhance recovery rates.Acts as a physician resource regarding the intraoperative observations of organs for transplant and communication of those observations to the transplant center for organ suitability.Works in collaboration with the Vice President of Clinical Operations and Medical Director to establish organ donation recovery policies and protocols for use in hospitals and in-house Donor Care Unit.Assists in intraoperative communication to local Medical Examiners.Able to place transplantable organs on perfusion devices such as Paragonix and Transmedics.Provides and documents an accurate and verifiable description of organ anatomy to include assessment of quality, anatomical abnormalities, and surgical damage.Responsible for inspecting the abdominal cavity for abnormalities that necessitate pathological evaluation.Maintains credentialing for inclusion in the ACIN Database.Well-developed interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact with all management, supervisors, and staff. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Physical Requirements:
