Position Summary
Walmart Global Tech is seeking a highly skilled
Full Stack Senior Data Scientist
to join our Transportation Applied AI team, with strong backgrounds in
deep reinforcement learning , and
operations research/machine learning . As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying large-scale AI algorithms that drive innovation, cost optimization, and data-driven automation for Walmart's transportation system.

Transportation Applied AI
team is a highly motivated group of AI scientists and machine learning engineers dedicated to solving sophisticated and high-impact problems that power Walmart's transportation network end-to-end from vendors to stores. We leverage advanced algorithms in operations research, deep reinforcement learning, economics (market design), and machine learning to tackle challenging problems like
Inbound/Outbound routing ,
truck load optimization ,
freight pricing and matching , and
workload dispatching .
What you'll do
Collaborate with business operations, product, and engineering teams to understand transportation business problems and design algorithm solutions.Build data pipelines from multiple external and internal sources and extract data insights using data exploration and visualization techniques.Research and explore the latest trends in machine learning and optimization techniques to develop robust solutions for complex business problems.Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end reinforcement learning, forecasting and optimization solutions with consideration for optimality and computational complexity.
What you'll bring
Ph.D. degree in
Statistics ,
Operations Research ,
Computer Science ,
Economics ,
Machine Learning ,
AI , or other quantitative fields; or Master's degree in the same domains with
3+ years of experience
post-grad school.Strong knowledge in
deep reinforcement learning ,
stochastic optimization ,
statistics , and
machine learning .Hands-on development experience with the ability to write production code in object-oriented languages like
Java ,
C++ , or
Python .Proven track record of building and deploying algorithms/models in production.Experience with
large-scale data systems
(Spark/Hive) and
cloud computing
(GCP/Azure).Demonstrated ability to drive projects from conception to completion in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Excellent communication skills.
