Position SummaryWalmart Global Tech is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Staff Data Scientist to lead the development and deployment of experiments in production and/or forecasting solutions within our Transportation Applied AI team. As a science tech lead, you will drive product innovation, cost optimization, and data-driven automation through robust measurements across experimentation, causal discovery, and analytics for Walmart's transportation systems.About TeamThe Transportation Applied AI team is a highly motivated group of AI scientists and machine learning engineers dedicated to solving sophisticated and high-impact problems that power Walmart's transportation network end-to-end from vendors to stores. We leverage cutting-edge algorithms in operations research, deep reinforcement learning, economics (market design), and machine learning to tackle challenging problems like Inbound/Outbound routing, truck load optimization, freight pricing and matching, and workload dispatching.What You'll DoResearch and explore the latest trends in time series forecasting and/or experimentation in marketplaces to develop solutions for complex business problems.Lead the design, development, and deployment of experimentation and/or forecasting frameworks to answer high-impact business questions and support complex decision-making.Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand transportation business objectives, requirements, and constraints.Facilitate ownership and accountability by ensuring that the team is producing trustworthy and high-quality outputs that influence the decisions and product directions in transportation.Mentor and guide other junior data scientists in the team.Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure engineering excellence.What You'll BringPh.D. degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Machine Learning, AI, or other quantitative fields with 4+ years of experience; or Master's degree in the same domains with 7+ years of experience post-grad school.Deep knowledge in forecasting, statistics, A/B testing, causal inference, causal machine learning, running experiments in production, experimentation in marketplaces/two-sided platforms.Hands-on development experience with the ability to write production code in object-oriented languages like Java, C++, or Python.Proven track record of building and deploying causal discovery and building experimentation excellence in a real-world setting.Experience with large-scale data systems (Spark/Hive) and cloud computing (GCP/Azure).Demonstrated ability to drive projects from conception to completion in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Strong product sense to balance between addressing stakeholder or test-specific needs and investing in scalable solutions to serve general use cases.Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.About Walmart Global TechImagine working in an environment where one line of code can make life easier for hundreds of millions of people.
