Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Designer to assist with EWP floor system designs for the state of MI. We are a distributor of engineered wood products (I Joist, LVL, rim board, etc.), and we perform structural design and layout duties for retailers across much of the U.S. This posting is specific for our Traverse City, MI and Jackson, MI markets. The ideal candidate would be performing structural design duties in both markets. We collaborate with co-workers, retailers, builders, architects and engineers and we do so at a high level with great attention to detail, accuracy and customer satisfaction. If you are an experienced and driven EWP Designer and you’re looking for a new (remote) opportunity, this may be a good fit for you.
Responsibilities:
Perform EWP designs, floor/roof system layouts, placement plans and size beams with provided proprietary software (CSD/iStruct-isPlan)Generate customer quotesOffer alternatives and solutions as problems arise in the field or as plan changes are madeProvide software generated calculations when requestedPlan your design(s) based on Retailer and Builder preferences as well as current products available in each respective market.Requirements:
3-4 years min. of EWP (Engineered Wood Products) design experience.Self-motivated and driven to succeed in a high volume and fast paced environmentWell-rounded knowledge of general construction practices and principlesGood understanding of trussed roofs and some stick framed roofs.Highly organized and communicates wellHome office with a stable/high speed internet connection and 4G/5G coverage
