Job Description Summary:Founded in 1824, the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is the 11th oldest medical school in the country and the first in the nation’s capital. The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (BMM) strives to deliver the highest quality of professional education and training and conduct cutting-edge research in the areas of biochemistry, molecular genetics, and genomics to better understand human disease.The Department is seeking a full-time Research Assistant for the laboratory of Dr. Jiyoung Lee. This position contributes to research/development by assisting with experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. Core responsibilities include assisting with data collection and administration of experimental procedures, including cell cultures and maintenance, molecular and cell biology experiments, and animal tumor models.Responsibilities include:Assists in maintaining cancer cell lines according to the PI’s instruction.Assists in maintaining buffers, solutions, and aliquots for research activity in the lab.Assists in maintaining polyacrylamide gels for western blots.Assists in performing protein, DNA, RNA isolation and quantification.Assists in performing viability and proliferation assays and functional assays using cell lysates.Assists with basic mouse experiments such as body weight monitoring and ear tagging.Assists in performing transfection and transduction of cancer cells.Performs other work-related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline.
