We partner with Batavia School District and provide before and after care at six elementary schools in the Batavia school district.(Alice Gustafson, Grace McWayne, H.C. Storm, Hoover-Wood, JB Nelson and Louis White)

Job Summary:

The Kids Club Counselor is responsible for providing supervision as well as a fun and safe environment for elementary children before and after their school day.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for setting up and taking down (games, crafts, sign-in/out book) the Kids Club area each shift.Meet and greet children and parents.Meet with parents to discuss issues as needed.Coordinate and participate in group activities with children.Assist children with homework as needed.Set-up, instruct, assist and clean up craft activity with children.Interact with children individually, games and conversations.Responsible for attendance and missing child procedure.Set-up and clean-up of snack.Provide first-aid care if needed and be familiar with medical needs of children.Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of District’s safety program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

First Aid/CPR certified.Aptitude to deal with multiple children’s needs at the same time.Utilize positive discipline techniques with children.Capability to manage a variety of personalities and behaviors in children, i.e. shy, upset, high energy.Ability to recognize sensitive situations with children and be able to respond timely.Ability to communicate with the public.Understand and anticipate customer’s needs as well as support a customer service environment.Excellent communication skills.Ability to portray a professional image of the District.Capability to engage and manage children in group activities.

Education and Experience:

This position requires a High School diploma or 16 years of age with a demonstrated interest and skill in pursuing a career in education and/or child care and two years of experience in working with children.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Majority of time spent standing, walking, and moving.Most activities are performed indoors, exposure to weather conditions during outdoor play time activities.May be exposed to excessive noise from children, music.May be required to assist with set up of programs and classrooms which may include bending, reaching, lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs.

Pay Rate:AM SHIFT: 6:15AM - 8:45AM $17.50 per hour (AM shift start times may vary from 6:15am to 7:00am)PM SHIFT: 3:15PM - 6:00PM $15.00 per hour* This is not a benefit eligible position *Batavia Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
