Staff Accountant I

is responsible for updating and evaluating for reasonableness the information presented in financial statements, narratives, and other accompanying schedules to the financial statements for any reporting entities assigned.We encourage candidates with lived experience to apply. $28.85-29.81/hourBenefits :15 days of earned PTO your first year, 12 company holidays + 2 floating holidays.Early close Fridays - 3 paid hours off early each Friday.Health, dental (adult and child orthodontia included), vision, and pet insurance.Employer paid life insurance.403b + match, paid volunteer time, and more.DutiesReconcile bank accounts accurately and in a timely manner, with attention to unusual items that remain outstanding at month end.Perform research on historical accounting transactions. Reconcile differences between A/P or A/R modules and G/L module.Prepare periodic financial statements (as directed by the Accounting Manager) within assigned time limits and accuracy standards.Prepare relevant and current explanation of financial statements in a narrative format for any financial statements released to users.Prepare financial statement related reports.Prepare accounting reports required by outside agencies.Assist in the preparation of budgets and schedules for annual audit.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field and/or prior experience in accounting may partially substitute for education.Preferred QualificationsExperience in public or industry accounting.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.Knowledge and SkillsWillingness to learn and seek advice and comment when appropriate from coworkers, the Accounting Manager, and others.Ability to understand and implement directives.Proficiency in spreadsheet and computerized accounting applications.Positive attitude, professionalism, and integrity.Self-initiative: ability to problem-solve and prioritize work.Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form and relate effectively with others.
