Job Description

Nemours is seeking an RN for our Pike Creek Location.

The Registered Nurse is a clinically competent practitioner of pediatric, family centered nursing care. The nurse provides safe nursing care to the pediatric primary care patients with minimal guidance and bases practice on identified principles and standards of care. The RN is responsible for daily patient care, assessment, and treatment in collaboration with the clinical medical provider. The RN must be competent in caring for patients with moderate to complex heath issues. Assists nurse manager or Office manager with administrative issues which affect the clinical practices within the office as well as comply with the administrative policies and clinical protocols.

Essential FunctionsFollow the nursing process to deliver care: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.Synthesizes patient assessments data and recognizes complex situations prior to communicating with the care team.Documentation reflects ongoing evaluation and effectiveness of patient care.Provides care that meets professional standards of practice and meets regulatory requirements.Safely administers medications and medications as prescribed by the provider.Triages patient's calls utilizing Barton Schmidt pediatric protocols, national teleheath standards and clinical advice from the clinical provider.Assists the clinical provider with in office procedures within the scope of the nurse's license.Performs phlebotomy to obtain blood specimens and back office laboratory tests.Provides age and developmentally appropriate care to primary care patients.Non-Essential Functions

Participates in promoting quality, efficient and cost effective care.Manages own time to accomplish direct/indirect care in a cost efficient manner.Able to identify own learning needs. Seeks out opportunities to meet needs and attends all required programs.Collaborates with family, team members and other caregivers to initiate plan of care and provide patient education.Performance Skills

Basic computer competency, including the effective use of patient care devices, computer software programs such as e-mail and shared network file space.Information literacy, including the effective use of the internet, Nemours intranet, Kids Health website, to find electronic resources for patient care, nursing practice and evidence -based decision making.Communicates clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.Role models appearance and behaviors that promote a positive image of nursing.Provides an accurate patient status report to members of the team that reflect nursing interventions and patient outcomes.Knowledge, Formal Education, and Training

Registered Nurse requiredBSN required within 3 years of hireLicense and Certification

Valid Nursing License in the state of Delaware requiredCertified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) preferredBLS from American Heart Association requiredExperience:

1-3 years of primary care experience preferred1-3 years of pediatric experience preferred
