ResponsibilitiesDetail Review and Analysis of Case materials, including analyzing key facts, hot documents, witnesses, and developing legal theories.Review and analyze data and information from multiple sources and perform data entry duties, utilizing databases like Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS), Pacer, etc., to search for defendant’s criminal history in state and federal court systems.Gather necessary documents related to older cases, analyzing facts, collecting evidence, reviewing, organizing, and bate-stamping.Draft an index in MS Excel of all documents produced with the bates ranges.Perform legal and factual research using legal research facilities, including Lexis Nexis and Westlaw for case-specific legal issues.Draft pleadings and incorporate case law.Possess working knowledge of the court system, legal research procedures, and resources, including understanding local rules for filing pleadings conventionally or via Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF).Produce a variety of written documents using advanced word processing software functions, including gathering case information, creating PowerPoints for presentations, and spreadsheets with reviewed data.Make recurring and special messenger trips as necessary, answer telephone calls, refer callers to staff members, or take messages. This includes adding court hearings and motion deadlines to MS Outlook calendars, contacting witnesses, scheduling their travel for trials, following up on prisoner movement status, and coordinating expert witnesses' trial testimony schedules.RequirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.3+ years of experience on major litigation support projects or an undergraduate degree.Hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including data processing environments, office automation networks, PC-based databases, and other applications, such as Oracle, Relativity, or other document review platforms, Trial Director, etc.Experience conducting legal research utilizing WestLaw or Pacer.Knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network.
