Job SummaryThe Temporary Substitute Truck Driver/Warehouse Specialist for Purchasing is responsible for loading all supplies, equipment, and furniture on trucks and making deliveries to units or schools according to a prescribed schedule.
Job RequirementsThe following are required:
A high school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of two years of experience in truck driving, delivery, and warehouse work. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.A valid Alaska commercial driver's license class B and air brake endorsement.A valid pallet jack and forklift certification for standup and sit down types.Knowledge of traffic laws as they apply to the operation of trucks.Ability to load and unload delivery trucks involving use of hand trucks, electric and manual pallet jacks, and on and off power lift gates. Involves extensive walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, stacking, securing of loads, and use of power lift gates.Ability to learn assigned routes and locations on individual delivery schedules.Ability to do manual labor.Ability to operate a forklift and drive trucks in a safe manner.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
The following are preferred:
Ability to perform minor, non-technical service to trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.Ability to learn and maintain working knowledge in all areas of warehouse operations.Working knowledge of computers and programs.
Essential Job Functions
Loads all supplies, equipment, and furniture on trucks and makes deliveries to units or schools according to a prescribed schedule.Performs all warehouse duties including, but not limited to, receiving using computers, checking in freight, loading of the following for delivery: books, food supplies, equipment, audio-visual equipment, teaching aids, and furniture.Picks up and delivers items on truck transfer requests from one location to another.Processes truck transfer and delivery receipts.Assists in record keeping, shelving, arranging, labeling, sorting of warehouse supplies and archives.Operates standup and sit down forklifts, electrical and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, single and tandem axle delivery trucks with power lift gates, flatbed trucks with power lift gates, small courier vans, step vans, pickup trucks and specialized warehouse equipment in a safe manner.
Physical/Mental Demands
This position routinely requires lifting up to 100 pounds, with or without accommodations, and may require lifting over 100 pounds with assistance.
