Job SummaryThe Truck Driver/Warehouse Specialist loads food, supplies, equipment, and other items on trucks and makes deliveries to units or schools according to a prescribed schedule. Job RequirementsThe following are required:
A high school diploma or equivalent.Two years of experience in truck driving and delivery work. Work experience must evidence ability to perform tasks assigned.Must possess a valid Alaska class A or class B commercial driver's license with air brake endorsement.Must obtain a food handler's card within two weeks of beginning employment.The Anchorage School District requires that the selected applicant for this position be given a conditional offer of employment contingent upon successfully passing a post offer/pre-employment physical capacities assessment. Essential Job Functions
Loads and unloads delivery trucks with all food supplies and related items and makes deliveries to schools or units according to a prescribed schedule. Involves extensive walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, stacking, and securing of goods.Assists in warehouse duties such as filling requisitions, sorting, packing loading and unloading items such as food service elementary pre-plate meals, a la carte supplies, food products from vendors for distribution to schools, mail, books, supplies, furniture, equipment, films and audio visual equipment, and teaching aids.Picks up and delivers items from one location to another on request.Assists in record keeping, shelving, arranging labeling, sorting and storing of warehouse supplies.Safely and skillfully operates forklifts, electrical and manual pallet jacks, 2.5 ton trucks, flatbed trucks, step vans, pickup trucks, and power tailgates.Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with others.Accommodates shifts subject to seasonal changes.Performs minor, non-technical service to trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.Learns assigned routes and locations on individual delivery schedules.
Physical /Mental DemandsThe physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, be able to readily recall facts and details, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.
