We are Hiring at UofL Hospital's Neonatal ICULocation: 530 South Jackson Street, Louisville, KY 40202Shift Option: Full Time, 7p-7aAbout UsUofL Hospital, an academic teaching and research hospital, is at the heart of the Louisville metro area in downtown Louisville. UofL Hospital offers a second-to-none cancer center, world-renowned trauma team, and a uniquely streamlined, nationally accredited stroke center. UofL Hospital is the only adult Level I trauma center in the region. The hospital is also the home to the only dedicated burn center in Kentucky.We are a designated Baby-Friendly birthing facility by Baby-Friendly USA. The designation is awarded to birth centers that offer an optimal level of care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding. UofL Hospitals Center for Women & Infants is the only downtown Louisville facility to earn this designation. Its the fourth facility in Kentucky to have it.UofL Hospital proudly received magnet designation in fall 2022.Our MissionAs an academic health care system, we will transform the health of the communities we serve through compassionate, innovative, patient-centered care.Responsibilities:Job SummaryThe charge nurse assists the clinical manager and nursing director with the management of the unit including participating in employee evaluations, staffing and scheduling, patient and preceptor assignments, oversight of resource utilization, and initiating and overseeing quality improvement activities. The charge nurse acts as a resource and provides information/education to unit staff. The charge nurse is involved in service recovery, promoting customer service to both internal and external customers. The charge nurse is a role model of the professional nurse as exemplified by their presence on the unit, participation in nursing department initiatives, and organizational committee meetings.The areas of focus are:Level III Neonatal ICUTransitional Nursery
Qualifications:Required QualificationsActive Kentucky registered nurse license or compact license with privileges to work in KentuckyAssociate degree in nursing from an accredited college or universityBasic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)All new-hire Associate degree registered nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within one (1) year of hire and complete an approved BSN program within three (3) years of hireMinimum one (1) year of patient care experience in specialty areaPreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or universityTwo (2) years of patient care experience in specialty areaBenefits & PerksCompetitive pay & benefits optionsPaid vacation, sick days, and holidaysFree tuition to UofL for part- and full-time employees & for child/spouse/domestic partner401K with employer match#LI-DNI
