We are Hiring at UofL Hospital's 6 South Medical Oncology unitLocation: 530 South Jackson Street, Louisville, KY 40202Shift Options: Full Time, 7p-7aAbout Us6 South is a 16 bed comprehensive medical oncology unit that works in conjunction with the Brown Cancer Center to utilize chemotherapy, innovative radiation techniques, Immunotherapy, and cutting edge research trials. This private bed unit utilizes adjunct holistic therapies to treat the whole person with the goal of providing the highest quality patient care and outcomes.UofL Hospital, a 404-bed academic teaching and research hospital, is at the heart of the Louisville Metro area in downtown Louisville. UofL Hospital offers a second-to-none cancer center, world-renowned trauma team and a uniquely streamlined, nationally accredited stroke centerthe latest innovations in a history of world-class care. UofL Hospital is the only adult Level I Trauma Center in the region, which includes the only dedicated burn center in Kentucky.Our MissionAs an academic health care system, we will transform the health of the communities we serve through compassionate, innovative, patient-centered care.Responsibilities:Job SummaryThe charge nurse assists the clinical manager and nursing director with the management of the unit including participating in employee evaluations, staffing and scheduling, patient and preceptor assignments, oversight of resource utilization, and initiating and overseeing quality improvement activities. The charge nurse acts as a resource and provides information/education to unit staff. The charge nurse is involved in service recovery, promoting customer service to both internal and external customers. The charge nurse is a role model of the professional nurse as exemplified by their presence on the unit, participation in nursing department initiatives, and organizational committee meetings.The areas of focus areMedical Oncology
Qualifications:Required QualificationsActive Kentucky registered nurse license or compact license with privileges to work in KentuckyAssociate degree in nursing from an accredited college or universityBasic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)All new-hire Associate degree registered nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within one (1) year of hire and complete an approved BSN program within three (3) years of hireOne (1) year of nursing experience in specialty areaPreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or universityTwo (2) years of nursing experience in specialty areaNote:
