Home Visitor

supports parents and/or caretakers and families in building skills to strengthen parenting practices through home visitation services using a home visitation curriculum. The FSS Home Visitor will work with parents and/or caretakers to strengthen parenting skills, relationship skills, understanding of developmental milestones, and guide individuals and families in overcoming obstacles to self-sufficiency. Through screening and assessment, home visitation, case management, and/or service linkage, the Home Visitor, together with the parents/caretakers, will identify family goals, promote strengths, and equip parents with the skills and knowledge needed to provide nurturing environments and overcome sources of stress. The Home Visitor also collaborates with community partners and public entities. This position may require working occasional evenings. This position will be supervised by an FSS Supervisor.FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization. Working with those impacted by trauma can affect staff in various ways, so FSA actively identifies and employs methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care.Sample of Duties and Responsibilities:Home Visitor Duties

Facilitate home visitation services using approved curriculum.Support parents in understanding and monitoring developmental milestones.Demonstrate knowledge of local resources and provide information and referral as needed.Aid families in completing pre and post program surveys.Utilize assessment skills and screening tools with families to determine appropriate services.Conduct recruitment and manage participant waitlist.Participate in activities to evaluate the program’s effectiveness.Ensure client records and documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and confidential.Complete the Home Visitor curriculum training upon hire.

Supervision

Participate in one-on-one supervision with supervisor and other meetings as scheduled.Communicate regularly with supervisor about all issues or concerns such as personnel, community sites, or FSA.Participate and complete goals developed during one-on-one sessions and year-end evaluations.

Program Development, Compliance and Evaluation

Aid families in completing pre and post program surveys.Conduct regular data entry and maintain accurate program records.Develop and implement activities to meet the needs of the community.

Community Partnerships

Participate in community events to promote FSA services to enhance visibility and build connections with community members. Events may be in the evenings or on weekends.Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with community partners.Crisis response is not a primary job function; however, staff may be called upon to assist in a crisis.

FSA Team Member

Participate in and attend FSA team and all-staff meetings and trainings, and other required events/activities.Attend professional development training courses, webinars, and other conferences.Participate in and support agency-wide organizational initiatives.Adhere to FSA policies and procedures.Participate in FSA committees as needed.Support a climate that invites employees from diverse backgrounds to grow and lead at FSA.Model and ensure an inclusive, welcoming, and inspiring organizational culture aligned with FSA’s values.Work collaboratively and respectfully with other FSA staff members.Provide a safe, and trauma-informed environment for staff, clients, and community partners.Reflect, embody, and practice professionalism through behavior and language.Exemplifies thoughtful and open communication with colleagues and community partners by providing constructive feedback about programs, staffing, and other matters related to working at FSA.Ability to act with discernment and maintain confidentiality. This is not limited to client records and databases, but also includes verbal and written communication.Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and exhibit cultural humility.Ability to maintain regular attendance.Practice continuous learning and adaptability. Employment Standards:BA preferred in sociology, social work, child development, or related field.Bilingual in English and Spanish required.Computer and Internet literacy and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.Proficient in Microsoft Office; can adapt to using various types of software.Valid automobile insurance and a valid California Driver License are required.Familiarity with community resources and knowledge of early education and childhood development.Must have demonstrated an ability to work with children, families, and working knowledge of trauma-informed care.Ability to communicate effectively with children, and their parents and/or caregivers with compassion.Excellent written and communication skills required.A professional attitude, a team player, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are necessary.To apply for this position, it is

that you submit a cover letter.The position requires routine travel to both Lompoc and Santa Maria, but the applicant can be located anywhere in the county.Classification, Hours, and Pay Rate:This position can be full-time (40 hours/week) or part-time, non-exempt, with either full or limited benefits depending on status. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 403(b) retirement plan. Generous holidays, vacations, and sick leave are also offered.Pay is dependent on education and experience. Starting pay for applicants without a BA is $26.00/hour. For applicants with a BA, starting pay is $28.00/hour.
