HeplerBroom LLC, a large defense firm, is currently seeking a licensed Associate Attorney with 3+ years of relevant experience for our St. Louis, MO office.

This is an ideal opportunity for attorneys with litigation experience. This position focuses largely on civil defense litigation and insurance coverage litigation. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing defense cases with partner supervision. This opportunity will provide substantial hands-on experience, including regular court appearances, depositions and trial opportunities, and will include research and writing responsibilities.

As an Associate Attorney at HeplerBroom, your responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting partners in managing insurance, personal injury, premises, and transportation litigation files.
  • Defending case files from inception through trial.
  • Handling depositions of parties, witnesses, treating physicians, and experts.
  • Drafting and arguing routine and substantive motions.
  • Attending court hearings in various counties and courthouses, as well as via Zoom.
  • Preparing status and trial strategy reports for clients.
  • Managing all aspects of discovery, including drafting and answering interrogatories, production requests, and requests to admit.

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Legal Qualifications:
    • Good standing with the Missouri bar; Illinois license preferred but not required.
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Willingness to proactively seek guidance with work tasks when necessary.
    • Strong research and analytical skills.
    • Deposition experience (preferred).
    • Meaningful litigation experience (preferred).
