NorthHill Technology Resources has a need for a Linux Engineer to support a Federal Program in Springfield, VA. This is a direct-hire role with our client, a fast-growing Federal Integrator. Excellent compensation, benefits and company culture. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship and an active Top Secret Clearance is required. Will sponsor for CI Polygraph.

Linux EngineerPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architecturesTroubleshoots complex system hardware and software issueTrains end users on the proper use of hardware and softwarePerforms advanced software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packagesMonitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levelsEnsures workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutionsLeads efforts to ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups archive operationsConducts advanced audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and guidelinesEnsures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network usersEvaluates existing systems and plans long-term strategiesMay coach and provide guidance to less experience professionalsFamiliarity with VMWare and SAN management and conceptsSolid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, ICMP, ssh and SNMPSkilled in system administration tasks such as file system, network, and account troubleshootingResponsible for provisioning virtual and physical servers or workstationsAdministering systems using automation and scripting tools to include CLI, Ansible, or various coding languagesKnowledge of repository management practices, patch administration, and vulnerability remediationMay serve as a team or task leadEducation and Experience:

Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree5+ years of related experience as a Linux AdministratorBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or similar relevant degreeRecommended Skills and Abilities:
