This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay. Ideal start date is September 1st or shortly thereafter.The Department of Basic and Clinical Translation Sciences at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine focuses on advancing understanding and treatment of craniofacial, dental, and skeletal diseases. Our research encompasses gene expression in bone formation, stem cell biology, and translational studies on bone metastasis, osteonecrosis, and dental implant osseointegration. State-of-the-art investigations utilize advanced techniques such as 3D tissue-engineering models and transgenic models to investigate mineralized tissue biology, mechanisms of metastasis and to develop innovative therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes.We are seeking a Senior Research Technician to work under Dr. Russell Taichman, the Associate Dean for Research and Chair for the Department of Basic and Clinical Translation Sciences.

What You'll Do

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Russell Taichman), the Senior Research Technician will perform routine laboratory experiments related to analysis of human stem cells and prostate cancer cell lines involving flow cytometry analysis of tissue culture cells and the generation of bone marrow mimics of human tissues. The Senior Research Technician will conduct a variety of routine and specialized laboratory experiments with accuracy and be responsible for collecting and reviewing literature related to the research. The Senior Research Technician should be able to perform specialized techniques and make decisions regarding the appropriate protocol or procedure necessary to achieve desired results, the reliability and accuracy of results, and whether modification or repetition is necessary.Responsibilities include:Conducts experiments following appropriate protocols and procedures to achieve results.Performs techniques such as tissue culture, RT-PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, protein purification and others.Assists in lab operations by monitoring and requesting supplies, maintaining equipment, ensuring lab space cleanliness and organization and following laboratory safety protocols.Completes other duties as needed to facilitate research and lab operations, including presentations at lab meetings and assistance in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts.

What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of a bachelor's or master's degree in science and at least one year of related laboratory experience (may include work in lab part of post doc or other experience while a student).The person in this position must manage their time well and be very organized; possess the ability and confidence to work independently, under the supervision of the PI.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important, as the position interacts with many types of employees within the laboratory and beyond.Must have basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and word documents.Preferred Qualifications:Advanced knowledge and experience with laboratory techniques and procedures.Knowledge of dental equipment and terminology.Knowledge of basic statistics.Previous grant writing experience.Previous experience with studies involving animals.

Pay Range

Minimum $24.30, Midpoint $28.90, Maximum $33.50. Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
