SUMMARY

Responsible for railroad track construction projects including the bid and proposal process, and crew oversight.II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESHands-on direction and implementation of track, rail yard work, and other projects as assignedDetermine materials needed and staff requirements for projectsWill utilize company operating procedures and FRA rules, standards, and instructions to complete project work and to maximize asset utilization and control costs.Oversee

the work assigned to the Foreman and crew ensuring that it is completed in a safe and efficient manner.Perform job site inspections including equipment and tools inspections.Other duties as assigned.III. QUALIFICATIONSThe qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential duties of this position. Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; 5-7 years of experience in railroad track construction, 2+ years in a supervisory/management role highly preferred.B.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesComprehensive knowledge of track structure, construction and maintenance, and identifying track defects.Must be able to operate, and train others how to operate a backhoe and front end loader.Must have a sharp eye for detailSuperior communication skills; Must be comfortable engaging in a variety of different communicative modes (verbal, non-verbal, and written) and being attuned to others through strong active listening skills.Must have the ability to work well with others as part of a team.Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under minimal supervision.C.

Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationD.

Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.E.

Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with the typical problems that occur in rail car switching.F.

Certificates/Licenses/RegistrationsCertification required if operating on track controlled by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).G.
