Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Team Leader Software Certification Engineering
located in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and growing a team responsible for creating process documentation and assuring the compliance and quality of Garmin's product software and databases.
Essential FunctionsLead, supervise, and develop a team of capable and dependable software certification engineers and software quality assurance analystsLead efforts for auditing DO-178B/C product artifacts and process activities and act as an expert on how Garmin's software development process meets DO-178B/C objectivesLead efforts for auditing DO-200A/B database artifacts and process activities and act as an expert on how Garmin's database development process meets DO-200A/B objectivesProvide technical leadership/direction to team members supporting assigned projectsPlan, organize, and document quality activities for Garmin's product softwarePlan, assign and direct work and identify resource needs to execute compliance plans and recruit as neededAnalyze open problem reports and work with product development teams until adequate resolutions have been determinedDirect team activities to support software development through the use and/or improvement of existing processes and the development of new processesAnalyze technology trends, human resource needs, regulatory requirements, and market requirements to plan projectsContinuously assess product stability and compliance and provide good visibility to the quality and SW teamsContinuously evaluate and provide feedback on Garmin's product development process to ensure appropriate participation and empowerment of the teamsParticipate in selection, qualification, and deployment of software quality related tools and proceduresEnsure optimal communication with customers (internal and external as applicable)Directly supervise various levels of team members by setting the tone for the team environment and providing individualized coaching, training and mentoringParticipate in recruiting activities, interview, hire, train, and evaluate performance for the teamBasic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
AND
a minimum of 5 years experience performing software quality and/or development to a SW development processExcellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)Expert in Garmin's software development process and how it meets DO-178B/C objectivesExperience and/or demonstrated capability in leading a software certification and/or software quality assurance teamMust possess practical experience with SW development plans and implementing structured software validation strategies relevant to Garmin's business needsMust demonstrate a solid understanding of the complete software development lifecycle and software quality processes relevant to Garmin's business needsDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent time management/follow-up skills with proven success solving difficult problemsMust be positive, detail/quality oriented, organized, analytical, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and lead in a fast paced, deadline-driven environmentDesired QualificationsEqual Opportunity Employer - minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
