Role Description:The successful candidate will be an integral part of the commercial team, providing critical support in evaluating and acquiring renewable energy projects and portfolios. This role offers exposure to various aspects of the renewable energy sector, including project finance, commercial development, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Evaluation and Acquisition:
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of renewable energy generation and storage projects/portfolios for potential acquisition
Perform detailed financial and market analyses to assess project viability and potential returns
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with potential acquisitions
Commercial Development Support:
Assist in the negotiation and structuring of offtake agreements and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
Provide analytical support for commercial development initiatives
Contribute to the development of commercial strategies to maximize project value
Financial Modeling and Due Diligence:
Build, maintain, and manage complex financial models for project evaluation and asset management
Coordinate due diligence processes, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders
Utilize advanced modeling techniques, including VBA, to enhance analytical capabilities and streamline processes
Asset Commercialization:
Support the commercialization of acquired assets through detailed analytical support
Assist in developing and implementing strategies to optimize asset performance and financial returns
Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including legal, technical, and finance departments
Engage with external stakeholders, such as investors, consultants, and industry partners
Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management and external parties as required
Qualifications:
For Analyst Level:
Relevant work experience, including internships in investment banking, finance, or consulting
Preference for candidates with exposure to the energy or renewables sectors
For Associate Level:
2+ years of relevant work experience in investment banking, finance, or consulting
Strong preference for candidates with direct experience in the energy or renewables sectors
For Both Levels:
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field is a plus
Advanced financial modeling capabilities, with proficiency in Excel and preferably VBA
Strong proficiency in PowerPoint for creating compelling presentations
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Passion for renewable energy and sustainability
Location and Work Arrangement:The position is based in Washington, D.C., with a hybrid work model. Candidates must be able to work from the company's office at least 2 days per week.
