With more than 80 locations nationwide and 3,000 plus employees, Oldcastle Infrastructure is committed to upholding core values of reliability, quality, and service in cutting edge ways.Position OverviewThis position will lead the development and implementation of manufacturing process improvements and best practices across Infrastructure Products Group’s 80+ precast and enclosures manufacturing locations. These initiatives will drive incremental improvements in productivity, quality, efficiency and cost. This position will help identify opportunities for significant improvement by working with operations, engineering, sales and supply chain teams to identify improvement initiatives and/or minor capital investment to reduce manufactured costs while driving profitability and competitive advantage. The Director of Operational Excellence should be self-motivated and able to work effectively in a decentralized and matrixed team environment. The Director of Operational Excellence will report directly to the Vice President of Business Performance and will work closely, on a dotted-line basis, with a cohort of Operations Directors and Manufacturing Engineers across Infrastructure to identify, implement, track and manage change initiatives.ResponsibilitiesWork closely with Operations Directors to develop Area and Business operational improvement plansIn coordination with Operations Directors, assist in hiring, leading, mentoring, and coaching of Manufacturing EngineersIdentify, measure, document and share best practices across the Infrastructure team, creating a collaborative network of Operations Directors and Manufacturing Engineers, accelerating change and adoption of best practicesOversee and lead plant improvement workshops to identify, diagnose and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies in production processesDevelop, evaluate and improve production methods utilizing lean tools, knowledge of product design, materials and parts, tooling and production equipment capabilities, process methods, and quality control standards to reduce manufactured costProvide oversight and guidance, planning, training and mentoring to plant-level teams implementing lean production tools and frameworksServe as change agent working collaboratively within and across departments, functions and locations to help implement a culture of continuous improvementAssist in the evaluation of acquisition targets to identify, quantify and develop plans for manufacturing process improvement opportunitiesIdentify and assist in development of enhanced metrics and measurements to drive positive behavioral change and identify inefficiency in our manufacturing processesMaintain and periodically improve Operational Excellence RoadmapsEducation/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or related degree or the equivalent in relevant experience15+ years of operations management experience applying lean manufacturing methodologies to support continuous production operationsDemonstrable experience leading manufactured cost improvements at multiple locations in a geographically dispersed business, involving multiple projects, timelines, teams and deliverablesIndustry experience in concrete manufacturing or building products sectorsKnowledge/Skill RequirementsStrong leadership skills with the ability to maintain a wide range of multi-site relationships at all levels of the organization utilizing influence, communication, facilitation, and presentation to effectively define and manage positive changeThorough understanding of lean management tools and practices with ability to assess, explain and deploy with common-sense approach to plant teams to drive measurable improvementsProblem solver able to consistently think strategically, act with urgency, and uphold our high ethical standardsTravel up to 75% of the timeWhat CRH Americas Offers YouHighly competitive base payComprehensive medical, dental and disability benefits programsGroup retirement savings programHealth and wellness programsA culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotionAbout CRH AmericasCRH Americas has a long and proud heritage as one of North America’s largest corporations.
