Because we have strong reason to believe the position will be approved soon, we are proceeding with identifying qualified candidates and conducting interviews.This is an open requisition for potential future openings within The Engineering & Robotics Division at Johnson Space Center as a Software Functional Manager or Spacecraft Software Engineer. Apply to this requisition if you want to be considered for openings that may come available in the next 180 days.As a Software Functional Manager (SFM) you will:Serve as a Software Functional Manager (SFM) by interfacing with, collaborating with, and monitoring the Prime Contractor and collaborating with NASA Civil Servants to perform the following activities:Provide technical feedback on spacecraft products developed by the software contractorMonitor the contractor work being done during the preparation for launchReview code for errors to ensure proper adherence to code development processReview code design documentation to ensure clear and correct design as per requirementsReview software Unit Tests to ensure processes were followed and Unit Tests fully test the functionalityReview Integration testing to ensure integration tests fully exercise the interfaces between domain code and code from other domainsFollow the software Verification campaign to ensure that the Verification tests pass and that they are sufficient to prove the functionality required of the target softwareFollow and participate in the Validation campaign to prove that the data provided to the software produces the desired operation of that softwareAdvise and appraise through code reviews, requirement reviews, and any other relevant reviewsNegotiate and collaborate across multiple interdisciplinary teamsProvide status report to senior management as requestedPerform any other oversight tasks assigned by the System ManagerPerform other duties as requiredAs a Spacecraft Software Engineer you will:Provide Software Insight and OversightSoftware release planning and estimationReview lower-level software testing and verification activitiesPerform software product assessment for completeness of design and implementation throughout the full software development lifecycleEnsure NASA requirements are satisfied by design solutions and support production/control board meetings, design and system reviewsSupport the development of CDR and manufacturing readiness review products and participate in module system reviewsInterface with NASA and spacecraft system engineering teamsSubsystem Software insight and oversightProvide engineering insight and oversight support for prime contractor on an assigned subsystem or subsystemsCoordinate with the product team on programmatic requirement change requests, design review support, interface definition and control, verification integrationMonitor system integration, interface management and coordinationPerform any other oversight tasks assigned by the System ManagerPerform other duties as requiredHere's What You'll Need:Requisition Qualifications:This position has been posted at multiple levels.
