Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, or Certified Nurse Midwives

with great communication skills, clinical skills and a strong emphasis on excellent customer service to see our increasing, diverse patient population within our Central Los Angeles Region, floating to S. Mark Taper and Bixby (also additional sites within LA County as needed).The full-time Clinician will join the Patient Services team and provide quality patient care including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, education, counseling, and serve as a medical resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff. Perform physical exams for both males and females with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, male genital exam, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, Mid-Life Services counseling, examinations and other types of more specialized procedures as indicated by medical policy.Over one hundred years ago, Planned Parenthood was founded on the idea that everyone should have the information and care they need to live strong, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams. Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

Current CA Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Midwife license requiredCurrent furnishing license required (for NP)Current BLS & ACLS certification required from American Heart AssociationMaster’s/Graduate degree requiredAvailability to work flexible hours including weekends (2 Saturdays per month)New grads welcomeWomen’s healthcare specialty preferredClinical experience in acute care environment (ER, ICU, Med Surg) and/or several years experience in OR/Surgical environment preferredFlexibility to be deployed to other sites in case of low volumeBe available to work On-Call shifts to provide patient care up to six (6) days annuallyValid driver license and reliable means of transportation is requiredAbout the position:

Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by affiliate medical protocolsRecognize and treat minor deviations from the normal, using prescribed protocols and consulting with the Physician as neededAbility to interpret colposcopy results to patientsAct as a medical resource and provide oversight of non-licensed staffLabel, dispense and prescribe all FDA approved birth control methods including ECPInsertion/removal of IUC and implantsPerform examination and assessment of post abortion clients including pelvic exams and labs when neededMaintain PPLA standards of productivityProvide medication abortion services and perform ultrasound to determine dating of pregnancy according to guidelines.Perform venipuncture, injections, and IV insertionsProficient in Microscopy and interpretation of resultsComplete and maintain Rh, Beta, and MAB follow-up logsThe following are responsibilities of Planned Parenthood clinicians as outlined in the medical standards and guidelines:

Secure a complete health history, including gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial; perform a general screening physical examination; obtain and/or interpret appropriate diagnostic procedures and laboratory testsProvide family planning, nutrition, sexual counseling, and principles of health promotion and maintenance to women and menProvide appropriate management for women and men in need of reproductive related services, including fertility control, infertility, and sexually transmitted diseasesServes as a resource for medical and surgical abortion servicesConducts pre-abortion assessment and post-abortion follow-up examination with recognition of normal and abnormal findings and refers or collaborates with physician as appropriatePerform colposcopy services after completion of additional training if neededRecognizes ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing care to women/men throughout the life cyclePerform Quality Management audits if requestedNotify the Quality Manager, Supervisor, and/or Center Manager if deficiencies are foundAdhere to Safety/Risk Management policies and proceduresGenerous salary and benefits package includes:
