JMT, is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position SummaryJMT is seeking a highly motivated individual for our Herndon, VA office who has the desire to lead a mature Highways section in a collaborative and progressive workplace. The selected candidate will be responsible for the Highways practice in the Herndon office including supervising staff and development and execution of a strategic plan. Also responsible for project management including delivering all project objectives for assigned projects including; scope, schedule and budget. They will have experience with the technical side of the practice and the desire to fully understand and execute the business side of the practice including maintaining client relationships, workload management and financial performance, and staff development and growth to continue our tradition of providing high quality products and services.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesCoordinate strategic growth plan with office leader, regional manager and practice leadersEstablish and grow market presence through marketing and business development activitiesManage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordinglyLead and contribute to the production of proposalsServe as a technical expertise resource to project engineers and technical staffManage roadway projectsEstablish resources staffing needs for the section; Interview and hire staff for the sectionPerform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teamsNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited programProfessional Engineer License15+ years’ experience in specialized disciplineProject management and business development experienceProven VDOT PM experience and the ability to win work with a variety of clientsProficient in Microsoft OfficeQualifications PreferredExperience working with local clients at the county and state levelProject management and business development experienceExperience managing multidiscipline project teamsSupervisory experienceJMT offers outstanding opportunities for career and professional growth.
