DescriptionPosition Summary:The Director of Medical Assisting is responsible for the implementation of the approved Medical Assisting program at a local campus, maintaining quality and regulatory standards, including oversight of faculty, medical assisting program policies, and curriculum development and implementation. The Director of Medical Assisting serves as representative of the program to regulatory and accreditation bodies, and to other internal and external constituencies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Communicate with Dean of Academic Affairs concerning operational, regulatory, and accreditation issues as appropriate while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance.Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to create an environment that supports learning and professional growth.Provide extensive academic support services to program participants within the program guidelines and collaboratively with other programs.Enforce existing College and program policy.Complete required reports, curriculum alignments, attending meetings, etc.Attend training as necessary to maintain knowledge and ensure compliance.Lead professional growth in-service education for the faculty.Participate in activities at the College, in the community, and at professional levels.Participate in professional development (i.e., continuing education, professional activities, conference presentations, scholarly publications, etc.).Liaison with community agencies, schools, special programs, and interest groups affecting student services offered to HCI students.Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with local high schools, colleges, universities, and state, local and federal agencies.Collaborate with the Director of Admissions with product knowledge and training of representatives as requested.Interpret and oversee compliance with pertinent federal, state, and local laws, rules and accreditation regulations pertaining to the program.Comply with all governmental regulations and standards of accreditation.Assist Career Services with HCI College standards on persistence and placement institutional accreditation guidelines.Prepare program reports for all regulatory and accreditation bodies.Ensure classrooms, labs, and other common academic areas meet any required accreditation and programmatic requirements.Understand institutional accreditation as it applies to the managed program.Represent the program to the local advisory committee.Establish and maintain a local advisory committee.Maintain communication with industry professionals and advisory committee members.Monitor faculty members in accordance with HCI College guidelines.Hire, orient, supervise, and evaluate classroom and clinical/externship faculty as needed to support the program(s).Conduct Faculty Classroom Observations at least once per term.Ensure that Annual faculty development plans are completed for each faculty member.Coordinate faculty scheduling within the program.Assist faculty as needed in the preparation of lesson plans, learning activities and evaluation of the learner’s knowledge.Supervise and evaluate program faculty per accreditation requirements.Conduct or provide professional development workshops for faculty and staff designed to improve the campus climate for program participants.Assist in the resolution of student and faculty issues.Facilitate regular programmatic faculty meetings, represent the program to the local advisory of the meetings.Ensure the accomplishment of learning outcomes established for the program.Student advisement through regular meetings.Work with Dean of Academic Affairs to resolve student complaints/appeals as well as performing student Academic Advisements.Advise students on academic and career goals, and counsel them individually and in groups on ways to overcome barriers to successfully continuing their education.Evaluate student progress and competency based on program philosophy and objectives.Develop and evaluate sites for clinical education, externship and preceptorship as applicable.Record grades and submit reports.Create and organize class schedules and distribute calendars to faculty and students.Schedule and conduct new student orientation.Assist with the planning of and attend graduation ceremonies.Prepare, submit, and manage the program budget and expenditures to the Dean of Academic Affairs.Research and request equipment and supplies essential to the Academic program through HCI College budget and purchasing procedures. Keep such equipment in good repair.Coordinate textbook orders.Regular and reliable attendance.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Skills and Qualifications:Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills.Excellent teaching skill and ability to efficiently manage students’ clinical/externship and skills lab activities.Demonstrated computer literacy skills including proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.).Ability to manage people and projects.A willingness to follow high ethical standards.Education/Experience:Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a Medical Assistant (Required).Current license to practice as a Medical Assistant (Required).Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent (Preferred).Minimum of two (2) years' experience in education/prior teaching experience (Preferred).Minimum of one (1) year experience in administration or management (Preferred).Supervisory Responsibilities:Medical Assisting Faculty at the direction of the Dean of Academic Affairs.Physical Demands:The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting and higher education teaching environment: communicating with students and staff, demonstrating procedures and techniques, and getting to and from appropriate classrooms and offices. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.Working Environment:Professional office setting: moderate noise levels; controlled indoor climate.
