Log in or register to view more details about this job.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSFull Time, 40 hours per week.Monday through Friday.First Shift, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.Hybrid (a combination of in-office/telework based on operational need).Location: State Library and Supreme Court Building- 231 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106.THE ROLEThe State Library operates Connecticut's principal law library, which preserves and makes accessible the extensive collections of governmental and historical materials that reflect Connecticut’s long history as a colony and a state. The Law & Legislative department staff work closely with the Connecticut General Assembly, the Secretary of the State, and Judicial Branch as well as Executive Branch agencies, the legal community, and the general public seeking to research complex legal topics. As a Librarian 1-State Library, you will be dedicated to learning about the history of state law, state legislation, and state government. The successful candidate will possess enthusiasm for working with material in various mediums (print, original records, electronic, etc.), have a demonstrated ability to commit to long-term projects that build on the years of existing research of those before them, and:Staff the reference desk.Learn about the library's resources by updating existing research guides, indexes, and finding aids.Support efforts to digitize and make accessible the library's unique resources.The Librarian 1-State Library will join a team of librarians providing outstanding research assistance to State Library patrons in person and virtually, and will report to the Head of Research Services.ABOUT USThe mission of the Connecticut State Library is to preserve and make accessible Connecticut’s history and heritage and to advance the development of library services statewide. The Connecticut State Library is an Executive Branch agency that provides a variety of library, information, archival, public records, museum, and administrative services for citizens of Connecticut, as well as for the employees and officials of all three branches of State government. The State Library also serves students, researchers, public libraries and town governments throughout the state. In addition, the State Library directs a program of statewide library development and administers the Library Services and Technology Act state grant.
