Regional Vice President of Health and Wellness

1. Trains and oversees community staff to perform thorough health assessments on all new residents upon admission to the community, monitor the health status of all current residents through assessments and care conferences scheduled according to state regulations or more frequently as required, and assure resident assessments and care plans are entered into the clinical systems software. Monitors compliance with those care plans.

2. Monitors community activity including initiating actions as required in improving residents’ health status. This includes the direct or remote monitoring of the eMAR program, 24-Hour Book systems, Incident Reports, and periodic audits of the clinical systems. This monitoring includes but is not limited to: medication side effects, activities, meals, complaints, cognition and behaviors, ADLs, and special requests. Using this information, provides support and direction for service plan reviews with a focus on assuring that the service plans are developed to meet the resident needs. Also works closely with and reacts immediately to suspected resident abuse including a thorough investigation and notification of appropriate parties.

3. Supports all Directors of Health and Wellness and has a dotted line with their supervision with the Regional Vice President, Operations. This responsibility includes assisting in hiring, coaching, orientation, scheduling and training of staff as needed. Provides input to employee evaluations per policies and procedures and communicates all employee relations’ issues with the Regional Vice President, Operations and Senior Vice President, Human Resources.

4. Performs all necessary verbal and written disciplinary actions required of supervised staff and ensures documentation and process meets policies and procedures. Conducts community audits as required of current operational systems to ensure staff compliance with policy and procedure and community security. Reviews all incident reports, conducts investigations and reports/plans corrective action as required. Forwards all incident reports related to sentinel events to managing company.

5. Works with the Regional Vice President, Operations to assist in ensuring there is a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activity in the building. Works with the Regional Vice President, Operations to assist in identifying and setting priorities in resolving service-related issues and that those CQI activities within the community meet Milestone goal of quarterly meetings, and document plans to improve quality. Provides additional areas of CQI focus through clinical audits performed in the community as required and requested by managing company.

6. Supports the Regional Vice President, Operations in maintaining compliance with all local, state, federal and licensing rules and regulations associated with the licensure of the building as they pertain to clinical and risk management activities. This includes HIPAA, OHSA, and State Survey issues, etc. that apply to the specific location of the property.

7. Ensures employees work in a safe manner and that unsafe actions are managed. Compliant with Safety Committee standards. Should workplace injuries occur, responsible for supporting and providing guidance related to all procedures for treatment, investigation, return to work, and management of the injured worker, communication with care provider and managing company.

8. Fosters teamwork with co-workers, shows initiative in overcoming obstacles, takes actions to assist others beyond job responsibilities, and has a positive impact on co-workers, residents and visitors.

9. Manages the fiduciary resources within the given budget.

10. Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
