Overview:Our client is a full-service engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm in Portland, Oregon with projects throughout the US. They will be hiring a Senior Mechanical or Chemical Engineer to oversee and coordinate activities for various design projects from start to finish. This position is onsite in Portland, Oregon; working with a small company with 25+ employees.

SummaryThe Senior Mechanical/Chemical Engineer is responsible for all engineering design deliverables of assigned projects, including technical leadership, project management, and detailed mechanical design work, for all new and existing projects that require process facility development. Utilizing exceptional technical and project management skills, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will develop, empower, and engage teams to solve meaningful problems and develop innovative solutions that drive customer value.

ResponsibilitiesPrepare and modify Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, as well as design plant and equipment configuration, in conjunction with other disciplines and customer directives.Prepare and modify construction specifications related to all mechanical equipment and associated equipment.Interpret design requirements and provide innovative engineering solutions while incorporating safety, cost effectiveness, and serviceability concepts.Perform and supervise system component sizing such as pumps, piping, cooling towers, chillers, boilers and process equipment.Interpret and provide technical expertise in the various codes governing design and plant operations, including but not limited to, SMACNA, ASHRAE, OSHA, ICC, and NFPA.Conduct field verifications, prepare technical narratives related to scope of work and operational specifications.Provide management and other project stakeholders with information regarding project status and possible design conflicts.

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.8 years of Mechanical/Process Facility Engineering experience.Professional Engineering (PE) license (or ability to get a PE within a few months).Experience working for a smaller company is preferred (less than 100 employees).Experience in MEP design for industrial facilities.Proficiency in design and calculation software.
