This role may also provide guidance to others to support the building of complex technical capabilities.JOB DESCRIPTION:Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerforms a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:Lead the design and build data solutions and applications that enable reporting, analytics, data science, and data management.Lead data application development teams and provide guidance to others to support the building of complex technical capabilities.Build large-scale data processing systems and data lakes, optimized for both computational and storage efficiency on Google Cloud Platform.Perform robust unit testing to ensure deliverables match the design and provide expertise to support subsequent release testing.Apply machine learning concepts to development work.Establish quality and reliability standards, and ensure team adheres to the same quality and standards working in an Agile development environment.Design and implement complex physical data models on columnar cloud databases like Redshift.Create ETL processes to build warehouse tables to facilitate reporting on Insurance Policy and Claim domain data from Guidewire Policy Center and Claim Center.Research, identify and implement process improvements that address complex technology gaps.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.May perform additional duties as assigned.100% telecommuting allowed from anywhere in the United States.Reporting RelationshipTypically Director or above.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related.5 (five) years of experience as a data engineer, software developer, consultant or related.Must have some work experience with each of the following:Build large-scale data processing systems and data lakes, optimized for both computational and storage efficiency on Google Cloud Platform or AWS within insurance domain.Create ETL processes to build warehouse tables to facilitate reporting on Insurance Policy and Claim domain data from Guidewire Policy Center and Claim Center.Design and implement complex physical data models on columnar cloud databases like Bigquery or Redshift.Primary Location : United States – Illinois – ChicagoOrganization : ITMon-Fri., 8:30am – 4:45pm, 37.5 hours/week, $144,560 to $162,884 per year, overtime exempt.
