About the role:Anthropic is seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Finance and Strategy to lead our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and strategic finance function that together drive our long-term financial strategy. This role will be responsible for building and managing a world-class finance team, developing sophisticated financial models, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. As a key member of the leadership team, the Head of Finance and Strategy will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Anthropic and ensuring our continued growth and success in the rapidly evolving AI ecosystem. This role will report directly to our Chief Financial Officer.
Job responsibilities:
Lead, manage and scale the Strategic Finance teams (Compute, Product, Go to Market) and Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions at Anthropic
Provide expert guidance and influence to executives and other stakeholders on financial strategies, investments, and resource allocation decisions, leveraging in-depth understanding of the company's financial position and market conditions
Lead the finance team owning the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, providing insights and recommendations to drive financial performance
Lead the teams responsible for building and maintaining robust financial models to support strategic decision-making, scenario planning, and risk assessment
Prepare and present financial analysis, forecasts, presentations and recommendations to executives, and board members, effectively communicating the company's financial story and addressing stakeholder questions
Collaborate with functional leaders across the organization to align financial plans with operational objectives
Oversee the development and enhancement of financial systems, processes, and controls to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
Serve as a trusted advisor to executives and board members on financial matters, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and risk management
Provide strategic and operational decision support through insightful financial analysis and reporting
Manage and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and professional growth
Represent the company in financial matters with external stakeholders, including lenders and auditors
You may be a good fit if you have:
15+ years of progressive experience across strategic finance, FP&A, private equity, growth equity, venture capital, consulting, and investment banking
At least 5+ years of experience in a leadership position overseeing FP&A and business partnering teams
Deep expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable insights
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization
Experience scaling finance functions in high-growth, technology-driven organizations
Proven track record of driving financial performance and supporting strategic decision-making
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and an MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
Are passionate about Anthropic's mission to build safe, transformative AI systems
Strong candidates may also:
Bring experience in SaaS, AI/ML, and Consumption-Based Revenue models
Hold a professional accounting certification, MBA or other relevant advanced degree (e.g., finance, data science, statistics)
Possess strong SQL and data visualization (e.g., Looker, Tableau) skills
