The Project Specialist works in a fast paced, creative, and highly collaborative environment and reports to the Manager, Property and Casualty Technology Business Enablement team. The ideal candidate is proactive and flexible with an eye for detail, bringing a positive collaborative attitude and a willingness to learn, staying up to date with industry standards. This individual is responsible for evaluating, coordinating, implementing, tracking, and managing the workstreams associated with the Business Enablement team's cross-functional deliverables. They will ensure complex strategic or operational activities are performed effectively and efficiently working with various teams across Property and Casualty Technology and beyond (i.e. HR, Compliance, Finance, other Tech areas and business areas)Co-operators' . The Project Specialist will be responsible for leading multiple business management workstreams including resource management, vendor management, IT compliance and governance. This role will also lead continuous process improvement and produce executive reports on their activities. . They are a self-starter, work with minimal supervision, can adapt to new demands and unexpected delays in the rapidly changing IT landscape, multitask, prioritize, and meet rigorous deadlines while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and open communication in all assignments.

How you will create impact:

  • Work with stakeholders to establish timelines, priorities, contingencies, and scope for multiple, complex business management initiatives within an IT group, both planned and unplanned.
  • Lead, organize, implement, track and report on business enablement initiatives and workstreams as assigned to ensure business value and efficiency. These workstreams, supporting the IT project teams, include resource management, vendor management, IT compliance and governance, and other initiatives as assigned.
  • Prepare and disseminate effective reports on multiple initiatives to diverse audiences, including executives.
  • Track resource utilization and billing across the team, in collaboration with project managers.
  • Identify problems, risks, and opportunities and, adapt to changing priorities.
  • Initiate solutions to continually improve workflow and processes, including through automation.

To join our team:

  • Have completed college diploma in project management, business administration, or equivalent work experience. Certification/designation in Project Management is an asset.
  • 5+ years professional experience coordinating projects and resources within an IT organization.
  • Depth of understanding in project management methodologies, processes, procedures, and best practices. Demonstrated experience managing multiple, complex projects simultaneously across teams, highly developed time management and organizational skills/strategies. Exercise sound and independent judgment and decision-making to ensure projects and initiatives meet objectives and are completed on time and budget.
  • Advanced skills in computer software and applications with strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience using relevant project management technologies and systems, including JIRA. Experience using Power BI or Power Automate an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, active listening, comprehension, and facilitation. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally.
  • Can contribute to building a positive culture and building affirmative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
