page of our website.These positions are responsible for supervising, developing and/or carrying out chemical and physical tests and analytical procedures to determine the nature, composition, and properties of substances or compounds, and their conformance to legal requirements, contract provisions and/or accepted standards and degree to which they vary from established requirements; and also make qualitative and quantitative analyses of substances for use in clinical diagnoses and in support of research and development functions.The Chemist IV position

plans, organizes and performs investigational and/or research activities in one or more specialized and complex areas of chemical analysis; is responsible for the operation of a small chemical laboratory in the area of specialization; or supervises several lower-level chemists in a unit activity of a large laboratory; and performs other duties as required.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:Legal Authorization to Work Requirement:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in chemistry or a closely related science which included at least 30 semester credit hours in chemistry courses including organic, inorganic, analytical and/or physical chemistry.Specialized Experience:

Two (2) years of professional work experience which demonstrated the ability to apply the scientific laws and principles of chemistry to predict results; or to interpret and evaluate the results of professional research or analyses by other chemists; or to assess the need for and validity of proposed changes and improvements in laboratory procedures and methods. At least one (1) year of the required Specialized Experience must have been comparable to the fully competent worker, or the Chemist III in the State service.Driver's License:

Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.Lift and Carry:
