The Director of Clinical Operations for Specialty Clinics will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for various specialty clinics including rheumatology, hematology/oncology, ENT, renal, dermatology, endocrinology, and behavioral health. This role requires advanced leadership skills to manage and mentor Practice Managers and Nurse Managers, ensuring the delivery of superior, patient-centered care and optimizing clinic operations under the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model. The Director will be responsible for strategic planning, compliance, financial management, community engagement, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. Additionally, the Director will incorporate principles of high reliability to enhance clinic operations.Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategic Management:

Provide strategic leadership and direction to Clinic Managers and Nurse Managers to ensure alignment with the clinic’s mission, vision, and goals within the PCMH model.Develop and implement long-term strategic plans to enhance clinic efficiency, patient care, and service offerings across all specialty clinics.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence among all clinic staff.Mentor and develop leadership skills within the management team, promoting professional growth and succession planning.Incorporate high reliability principles into clinic operations to minimize errors and enhance patient safety.

Clinical and Operational Oversight:

Oversee the daily clinical and administrative operations of specialty clinics, ensuring high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.Implement and refine clinical protocols and procedures that align with PCMH standards to enhance patient outcomes and streamline operations.Ensure seamless integration and coordination of services across all specialty clinics.Conduct regular evaluations of clinical performance and operational workflows to identify and address areas for improvement.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.Implement and monitor infection control practices.Lead quality improvement initiatives and projects aligned with PCMH principles, utilizing data analytics to drive improvement and enhance clinical outcomes.Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure adherence to regulatory and accreditation requirements.Apply high reliability principles to quality assurance efforts to achieve zero harm and high reliability in clinical operations.

Financial Management:

Develop, manage, and oversee the specialty clinics’ budget, ensuring financial stability and growth.Monitor financial performance, analyze budget variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement without compromising patient care quality.Oversee billing, coding, and reimbursement processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Policy Review and Development:

Lead the review and development of clinical and administrative policies to ensure they are current, relevant, and effective.Ensure that all staff are well-informed and trained on updated policies and procedures.Develop policies to address emerging healthcare trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.

Patient-Centered Care and Community Engagement:

Champion the principles of the PCMH model, ensuring a coordinated, patient-centered approach to care.Develop and implement community outreach programs to increase patient volume and community awareness of specialty clinic services.Establish and maintain strategic relationships with local community organizations, stakeholders, and healthcare providers.Organize and participate in health education workshops, wellness events, and community health initiatives.Utilize various channels to promote specialty clinic services and attract new patients.

Patient Relations and Advocacy:

Champion a patient-centered approach in all specialty clinic activities, ensuring a positive and compassionate patient experience.Address patient concerns, complaints, and feedback promptly and effectively.Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.Advocate for patient needs and preferences in all aspects of specialty clinic operations.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare administration experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.Extensive experience in managing specialty clinics within the PCMH model.Familiarity with the unique requirements of specialty areas such as rheumatology, hematology/oncology, ENT, renal, dermatology, endocrinology, and behavioral health.Experience with high reliability organizations or principles of high reliability in healthcare.
