The Department of Public Health is accepting applications in class 2303 Certified Nursing Assistant for

multiple positions

at all DPH facilities, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General and Laguna Honda.

Under direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) performs a variety of routine duties involving care of medically or mentally ill acute or sub-acute patients; performs direct patient care; observes and reports changes in the behavior and physical status of patients; provides a clean and safe environment; and performs related duties.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

Under direct supervision, and as part of the treatment team, provides routine patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards.

Establishes and maintains a therapeutic and/or medical relationship with patients.

As appropriate, reviews patient's admission documentation and notes pertinent facts regarding diagnoses and treatment history. Documents care according to department standards.

Maintains constant and continuous communication with medical providers and staff.

As directed by licensed staff; reviews and implements treatment plans, and provides one-to-one care when essential to treatment plans.

Observes, records and reports patient medical, social and psychiatric behavior and physical conditions.

Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning by reporting observations and concerns and by asking questions.

Attends and participates in patient groups, case conferences, staff meetings and in-service training programs.

As assigned, completes procedures and specimen collection including phlebotomy.

Adheres to health, safety, and infection control policy and resource utilization.

Manages work time effectively, efficiently and productively.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

How to qualifyMinimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health. Status must show "Valid" at:https://cvl.cdph.ca.gov/SearchPage.aspx

Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate is required for some positions.

Possession of a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1) Certificate, issued by the State of California Department of Health Services, is required for those positions that perform phlebotomy.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement at the time of application unless otherwise noted.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association is required as a provision to employment for all positions. Candidates who do not possess such a certification may participate in this examination process and be appointed to a position(s), but will be required to obtain the certificate within two (2) weeks of hire date and maintain validity throughout length of employment.

Applicants may be required to complete a Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire (MQSQ) at any point in the recruitment process. The MQSQ will be emailed to the email address listed on the applicant’s online job application. Applicants must complete and submit the MQSQ as directed in the time frame indicated to continue in the recruitment process.
