DescriptionJoin the Highway Team at Fisher Associates as a Project Engineer!Are you an expert in Highway Design? Fisher Associates is looking for a skilled Project Engineer to be part of our dynamic Transportation Group. As a Highway Project Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in the design, construction, maintenance, and management of highways, roads, and transportation infrastructure. This position blends engineering expertise, project management, and problem-solving skills to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people.Key Responsibilities:Develop preliminary and final design plans for new highway projects or improvements to existing infrastructure.Provide technical expertise for specialized design tasks.Perform and oversee the day-to-day technical design tasks associated with a project.Complete work assignments related to highway design, drainage design, alignments, and other duties applicable to these projects.Ensure designs adhere to safety standards, local regulations, and best practices.Provide direction and oversight to internal design staff.Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, sub consultants, and regulatory approving agencies.Serve as design contact with the client and other design professionals and contractors.Attend project kick-off meetings.Conduct routine project design meetings, prepare meeting minutes, and maintain accurate and complete project files.Lead internal team by scheduling and conducting internal design meetings and reviewing the work of other technical staff assigned to the project.Assist project manager with project presentations, proposed project schedules, and development tasks assigned by the Project Manager.Develop creative and strategic design options that meet client’s goals.Preliminary and final design, engineering systems coordination, and cost analysis.Specification and materials research.Maintain accurate records of project details, including design documents, progress reports, and budget information.RequirementsEducation & Experience:B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field (MS preferred).10-15 years minimum of transportation experience, highway engineering experience preferred.Professional Engineering License required.Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads software preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Exhibit behaviors that align with the Fisher Values: Aspire to Excellence, Teamwork and Respect, Owning our Results, and Empowered Employees.Establish and maintain strong client relationships adhering to the Fisher Clientship philosophy.Aspire to excellence, consistently seek to improve, and demonstrate high-quality work at all levels.Team player: collaborate effectively at all levels; treat coworkers, clients, and vendors with respect in all interactions; seek to listen effectively, understand others, and build trust.Own and accept responsibility for results.Honest, transparent, and trustworthy.Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Ability to consistently demonstrate sound judgement.Excellent and professional communication skills both written and verbal.Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Strong attention to detail.Exhibit flexibility with assignments, workflow, or project changes.Listen and respond to feedback in a positive manner.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
