Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Uptown is a joint venture surgical hospital between Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH), United Surgical Partners International (USPI), and local physicians. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Uptown provides a wide range of medical and surgical services for the greater North Texas area across 8 ORs, 24 private inpatient rooms, and a full-service ED. The hospital specializes in both inpatient and outpatient procedures in Orthopedics, Joint Replacement, Spine, General, Bariatrics, Surgical Oncology, ENT, Reconstructive Surgery, and other surgical specialties.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Uptown is currently seeking a Surgical Scrub Tech in the Surgical Department for full time, part time, or PRN opportunities.

The ideal candidate will ensure sterility of all supplies and instruments during the setup of surgical procedures. They will assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, be responsible for doing sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse. They will also assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate/updated and retain all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source/name of specimen with the surgeon, transport all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas, assist in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets, use appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. They will also assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, participate in emergency preparedness drills, follow all equipment and safety guidelines, and be responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment. The candidate will serve as a resource to other members of the healthcare team and attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required.

Required Skills:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

At least three (3) years’ experience as instrument room tech

Experience with all types of sterilizers

Current BLS

Knowledge of operating room instrumentation.

Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray.

Understands operation of steam/gravity sterilizer and gas/plasma sterilizers (V-Pro).
