Position SummaryThe Volunteer Experience Specialist is responsible for creating an enriching and supportive environment for volunteers within a defined geographic region. This role involves providing authentic, responsive volunteer support, mentoring, training, leadership development, programming support, and exceptional customer service. The specialist will utilize Badgerland’s customer relationship management system (Salesforce) to support and document interactions with volunteers.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, a passion for building a leadership community, and the ability to inspire and motivate volunteers. They should be adept at using CRM systems and committed to enhancing volunteer satisfaction and effectiveness.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide authentic and responsive volunteer support, mentoring, training, leadership development, programming support, and customer service.Utilize Badgerland’s customer relationship management system (Salesforce) to document and support volunteer interactions within a defined geographic region.Ensure volunteers feel appreciated, supported, and equipped for their roles, and are prepared to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.Review and update resource documents annually to ensure members have the most accurate and up-to-date safety and regulatory standards available.Support individually registered Girl Scouts and their families.Maintain high engagement with troop volunteers using various communication methods to build and strengthen volunteer support.Ensure troops and volunteers receive necessary training and resources, and verify that all volunteers have approved background checks on file.Collaborate with the Community Development Manager to:

Recruit, onboard, and train service unit volunteers who are a strong match for their roles.Regularly assess and enhance the engagement of service unit (SU) leadership volunteers, developing and executing plans to increase engagement and strengthen the volunteer community network.Support and guide Service Units (SU) to establish and maintain healthy, high-functioning regional teams.Ensure SU volunteers have the information, tools, and resources needed to support troop leaders and retain and grow membership.

Secure caregivers to participate in troop leadership roles, including Troop Co-Leaders, Troop Support, Troop Bank Account Signors, Troop Product Support, and more, working alongside Community Engagement.Demonstrate belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting, and subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law, as well as the mission, vision, and values of Wisconsin Badgerland Girl Scouts.Education or ExperienceBachelor's degree or higher or equivalent experience within a relevant field.A minimum of 3 or more years in developing and implementing training programs, preferably in a nonprofit or volunteer-based organization.Demonstrated ability and sensitivity working with youth and persons of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.Demonstrate active listening to volunteers, with a desire for proactive solution finding and identify the need for and provide conflict resolution when appropriate.Experience in supervision and management of volunteers.Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to share the impact of the Girl Scout mission in a compelling way.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with Salesforce, preferred.Ability to plan, organize and implement a multi-faceted workload, handle pressure, and meet organizational deadlines and goals.The ability to work independently with minimal oversight, take initiative, self-manage, and thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.Ability to represent Badgerland effectively to key internal and external audiences, including prospective and new members, families and volunteers.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with conflicting priorities while meeting deadlines is essential.Passion for developing volunteers’ interest in working with youth.Spanish/Bilingual skills a plus.Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming, and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience not required.Other RequirementsAnticipated time away from the office is less than 35%.Possess a valid driver’s License and proof of insurance.Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site as necessary.Must have the ability to work occasional weekends and evenings and occasional overnights.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
