VERTEX is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for our growing Industrial Hygiene practice in Columbia, MD. We are looking for people who are passionate about ensuring safe workplaces for all and have the drive to grow their careers and develop with us.What you will be doing:Assist in the management, oversight, and review of inspection/assessment projects for a variety of public and private clientsConduct Asbestos/Lead surveys, project monitoring, IAQ/mold assessments, and/or Industrial Hygiene assignmentsWrite detailed technical assessment reports including the preparation of accurate data/summary tables and/or figures for peer reviewAssist in management and training of project-level staffPrepare and implement Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sitesMeet utilization and other performance metricsSeek opportunities to expand client services with existing and new clients as part of ongoing business developmentQualifications

BS in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Public Health, or related field3+ years of professional experience in the execution of indoor air quality and mold assessments, asbestos and lead-based paint inspections, including report writing and field investigationAHERA Asbestos Building Inspector Certification and Monitor Certification (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) or training completed to apply for the licenses at the time of applicationHealth & Safety Certifications pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills in EnglishStrong technical report writing skillsAbility/willingness for frequent regional travel for fieldwork, valid driver’s license is requiredAbility to perform multiple tasks and priorities and perform exceptionally under fast-paced conditionsProficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Ability to walk job sites and climb ladders during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, and carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job sites with regularityAdditional Information
