POSITION TITLE: Instructional SpecialistFTE: Teacher calendar + 3 duty daysReports To: School DirectorJob summary: Ensure students receive high quality, relevant instruction that takes place in a safe and positive learning environment. Oversees all district and MDE assessment.Responsibilities:Instruction and Curriculum• Assist teaching staff in the implementation of school curriculum which includes walk throughs, co-teaching, modeling lessons and coaching feedback.• Coach teachers on research-based instructional strategies and curricula that engage all students and result in increased student performance.• Participate in monthly data meetings with grade level teams and admin.• Develop/revise lesson plan format and review teacher submitted lessons weekly.• Participate on curriculum committee in the review of global units, school curriculum, and academic activities.Human Resources and Personnel Management• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and selecting faculty as needed.• Develop and implement annual evaluation schedule and maintain all records.• Provide teacher evaluations using TAP rubric and pre and post conferences.• Schedule teacher and para substitutes related to requested time off and ensure staffing is in place on a daily basis to cover absences.Professional Development• Work with school director on development and implementation of PLC’s and provide follow-up observation and coaching support to all teaching staff.• Work with school director on planning school-wide professional development, including new teacher training and back to school PD in order to ensure needs of teachers and instructional goals are being met.• Work with special education admin to ensure PD for paraprofessionals is supporting instructional goals and school needs.District Assessment (DAC)• Coordination of all district and state standardized testing and understand MDE compliance and guidelines with proctor training.• Develop school MDE, NWEA and Access calendars ensuring they are posted.• Work with teachers to ensure all assessment tools including Fast bridge and NWEA are scheduled and appropriately implemented.• Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student performance and identify areas for improvement and share with ILT.School Involvement• Attend all school parent functions (including evening events).• Participate and attend designated school committees (curriculum).• Perform duties related to bus arrival and dismissal as needed.• Assist with discipline/walkie/cafeteria/classroom support as needed.• Participate in school leadership meetings once a week.Other duties as assigned. Qualifications:• BA/BS degree with 10+ years of teaching experience and school leadership instructional experience. Hold a current Minnesota teaching license.• Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups.• Knowledge of curriculum and best practice instructional strategies.• Ability to problem solve and establish positive working relationships.• Experience with computers and knowledge of school software.Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, stand, and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Work is performed in PK-6 elementary school with moderate noise levels.Institution Description
